Beijing: On Wednesday, Wang Yi, China's Foreign Minister, conveyed Beijing's backing for Pakistan's counter-terrorism initiatives during a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, in Tianjin.
Wang emphasized China's unwavering support for Pakistan's ongoing efforts against terrorism, as stated in an official release.
He expressed the Chinese government's ongoing concern for the safety of its nationals in Pakistan, highlighting the need for Pakistan to ensure the protection of Chinese personnel and projects, especially in light of past attacks on Chinese workers involved in various CPEC initiatives.
Wang characterized the friendship between China and Pakistan as 'unique and time-tested,' noting that their regular meetings signify the robust nature of their strategic partnership.
He expressed China's eagerness to enhance strategic dialogues with Pakistan, aiming for high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and expanding cooperation in sectors like agriculture, industry, and mining.
According to Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, the two leaders engaged in extensive discussions covering significant mutual interests, including CPEC and multilateral collaboration.
They reaffirmed their dedication to bolstering bilateral relations to foster regional peace, stability, and development.
Dar, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister, was in China for a three-day visit to participate in the Foreign Ministers' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) held in Tianjin on Tuesday.
